VOLUNTEERING AT THE LIBRARY
The Library Volunteer Program was established in 1995 when library services moved from the Carnegie
Library to its current location. The program started with a handful of volunteers and has grown to be
one of California’s most innovative models of volunteerism in library service. The program’s mission is
to support Library Staff in its ongoing commitment to excellence. Volunteers are trained to perform a
variety of duties such as working at the Circulation desk, Reference desk, Children’s Library, processing
of new books, book mending, shelving and special projects. Beginning in 2018, we now have a year-round
Teen Volunteer Program. Volunteering at the library is a wonderful opportunity to learn how
libraries work, meet your community members, and work with a great staff! For further information,
please contact Suzanne Robitaille, Volunteer Coordinator, at 237-3870 or srobitaille@prcity.com
